Just what every Melllvar needs is now available from Reboot Music – a soundtrack to the documentary sequel, TREKKIES 2. The makers of that second exploration of STAR TREK fans and fandom discovered a large and growing group of fans who created STAR TREK oriented rock music. “Part sci-fi tribute, part comedy, and part good old fashioned, rebellious rock concerts,” reads the notice from Reboot Music, the TREKKIES 2 CD contains more than two dozen tracks of music from such Trek-adoring bands as Warp 11, Stovokor, and No Kill, plus an opening theme by the B52’s Fred Schneider with Pat Irwin. The music is competent but unexceptional, ranging from a few clever “filk” songs like Leslie Fish’s “Banned from Argo” and pop satires like “Everything I Do, I Do With William Shatner” by Warp 11, to hard driving metal tunes like “Vulcan Mind Meld” by No Kill I: Deep Space Nine. Each track is prefaced by a brief excerpt from the documentary, showing just how driven/diverse/warped some of these Trekkies can be. www.rebootmusic.com
